The Reason you cannot marry a Companion ( as a man trying to marry a woman ) is because they don't have a father to give them away. Nothing ties them to this realm as a "real" npc and thus you cannot get married. WHICH SUCKS! Because I really wanted to marry a Vassalized companion of mine - I even went as far to MURDER my ( at the time ) pre-existing wife! Damn these times are cruel.
They upgrade troops and replace lost troops. If they are losing too many troops in battle try upping their medicine skill. Otherwise they may always have "green" troops. If you are using mods, all bets are off and you should have opened with that. Last edited by GIJoe597 ; Apr 3, 2023 @ 9:44am.

You make your companions Captains by assigning them to the group you want them to buff. For example you'll note you press the number two when you want archers. Archers are in group 2. Set your most archery-est companion into group two (under party) and their captain buffs will buff that group. Same goes for cavalry, horse archers, etc.
Right to rule. Right to rule is the amount of respect points you have. This is used when you are founding your own kingdom, and it only appears in Warband . The higher your right to rule is, the more likely lords will be to see you as the real monarch and even join you. If you have a low right to rule, other kingdoms will take you as a renegade
If you are king and give them their own clan, then yes. If they stay in your clan they will be childless. As in, if they’re in your party right? If you just leave them at a town with their spouse they’ll make a child regardless if your a king or not. Same rules apply to them aswell. If your brother or male family member is married and in a
